Volleyball Legends Abilities: All 14 Ranked by Rarity, Plus Charge and Pity Math
Styles get the headlines, but Abilities are the other half of Volleyball Legends’ two core systems — and the half most players set up wrong. There are exactly 14 abilities (13 permanent, 1 limited) across 5 rarities. Here’s the full directory, the charge mechanic that gates all of them, and the pity math that differs from styles in one expensive way.
How Ability Charge Works
Every ability must be charged before use. Charge builds when you touch the ball or score a point (if you had the last touch); it also fills passively, but the passive rate is so slow the wiki itself warns against relying on it. The design intent is explicit — aggressive, involved play gets more ability uses. If you hang back at the service line, your ability is decoration.
The Full Directory
Common — easiest pulls, weakest effects (still workable in skilled hands):
- Rolling Thunder — likely a nod to Nishinoya’s move of the same name in Haikyū!!
- Super Sprint
- Team Spirit
Rare — real utility, common in higher-level play:
- Boom Jump
- Moonball (downgraded from Legendary in a past rebalance)
Legendary — strong but counterable; the balanced tier:
- Steel Block (the climber: started Common, rose to Rare, then reworked up to Legendary after the blocking overhaul)
- Zero Gravity Set (up from Rare)
Godly — point-winning power when timed right; can rival Secrets in skilled hands:
- Curve Spike (promoted from Legendary)
- Divine Strength
- Redirection Jump
Secret — the game-changers, Level 15 required:
- Extra Touch
- Lead Feet (yes, the one the LEAD_FEET_AGAIN code was named after)
- Magnetic Pull
- Shield Breaker
The rarity-migration history above matters more than it looks: this developer re-tiers abilities when the meta shifts, so today’s Rare can be next season’s Legendary.
Spin Odds and Pity — Read This Before Rolling
Ability Spins cost 250 each; Lucky Ability Spins (season pass, codes, gifts) carry much better odds. Below Level 15: Common 62.5% / Rare 35% / Legendary 2% / Godly ~0.5%, Secrets locked. At Level 15+ with Lucky Spins: Rare 50% / Legendary 45% / Godly 5.25%, Secrets unlocked.
Pity runs on two tracks:
- Every 50 spins: a random Legendary (95%) or Godly (5%)
- Every 200 spins: a random Secret — reduced to 100 during the weekend 2× Luck & Pity event
The expensive difference from styles: the styles gacha gives you a coinflip-then-guarantee on the specific Secret you selected. The ability pity does not — selecting an ability only raises its odds; the 200-spin pity hands you a random Secret. Budget accordingly: you cannot hard-target Shield Breaker the way you can hard-target a style.
Practical Setup Advice
- Spin on weekends only — the 2× event (Saturday 11:30 AM EST through Monday) doubles Secret odds and halves the pity to 100. Same rule as styles.
- Match the ability to your court role — a setter running Curve Spike wastes a Godly; Zero Gravity Set on a dedicated setter changes rallies.
- Charge economics favor the ball-hungry — if your style keeps you in every rally (spiker builds, aggressive receives), you’ll cycle abilities dramatically more often than a corner-camper.
